Education
Rose Bruford College
BA (Hons) Drama
After gaining a string of A-grade Highers courtesy of Hutchesons Grammar School, Kate left her native Glasgow for London to study acting at Rose Bruford College. She played a great range of parts, from the sublime to the ridiculous. Moll Flanders… then the front end of a pantomime horse. She was the devil in a new play by Alan Ayckbourn and a policewoman hunting Gary Lineker in one of ‘those’ adverts.
Kate also had great roles in the original London casts of Sondheim and Lloyd Webber shows, and a wonderful sideline singing Gershwin with the late Larry Adler. This led to trips around the world as a solo artist on the QE2. She has presented many corporate videos and met her husband while flying on wires in Marrakech, launching a new car for General Motors.
Alongside her acting career was a double life – trying other businesses for size to see what they were all about. Managing a busy London restaurant. Running a successful direct sales business with a team of busy working mums. Gaining a PR Diploma and organising events. Kate also started a charity, MumsAid.
Teaching acting and voice to an age range of 18 to 80 required all her resources of creativity and enthusiasm. But it also offered huge insight into the way we work and why we do what we do. Now, with two young children, it seems to have even more resonance. Her experience with them is frequently drawn on in the training room!
At Impact Factory Kate thrives on the incredible mix of people who come through the doors, each with their own story.
“For me, it’s always been the people, not the job. It was a revelation to come to Impact Factory where people ARE the job. Little did I expect the level of personal development it would also offer.”l to be in a position to help people realise how brilliant and capable they are.”
At Impact Factory Kate has worked with a wide range of clients including HMPS, Somerfield, and Lucky Voice. Her previous work experience and desire for everyone to have a supportive workplace pull her towards our Performance Management, Conflict Management, Presentation Skills, Train the Trainer and Communication Skills Courses.
Having trained countless frontline staff, Kate is a champion of good Customer Service.
